It is amazing to think of all the predators goldfish encounter in their lifetime, yet Ozark Fisheries is still able to sell millions of these little beauties every year. You name it, and it probably has an appetite for goldfish.
Birds are the largest predator of goldfish at our farm, including egrets, great blue herons, ducks, double-crested cormorants and ring-billed gulls. The great blue heron is the most destructive of all these birds, eating whole ponds of goldfish in a matter of days.
Other animals that make a meal out of goldfish are mink, otters, turtles, snakes and frogs. Mink are detrimental to goldfish, eating entire bodies and only leaving the heads behind.
