Koi Fish

Koi (Cyprinus carpio) are a member of the carp family. Along with several varieties of wild carp, the carp family also includes farm-raised koi and butterfly koi. Traditionally, Koi range in size from 2.5" to 36" but given the proper settings can grow even larger.

Also known as Nishikigoi, Koi are a domesticated, colorful variety of the common carp. Standard Fin Koi have an oval body shape, as opposed to the Butterfly Koi which tend to be more slender. Our Koi come in a variety of colors, from solid yellow to tri-color patterns.

Koi are a great addition to any freshwater aquarium or garden pond. They can be mixed with any straight tailed goldfish including common goldfish, sarasa comets, pond comets and shubunkins, as well as, butterfly koi.

Ozark Fisheries has taken great strides in the past several years to provide our customers with quality koi and butterfly koi at reasonable prices. For your convenience, we do offer two grades of our koi and butterfly koi. Standard grade (or pond run) is a mix of all the koi in a particular tank. Select grade (or premium) are koi that have been hand selected by our shipping staff. These koi and butterfly koi exhibit the best patterns, brightest colors and excellent overall body conformation.

We have wholesale koi for sale. Our wholesale koi would look great in your koi pond or water garden. For even more information about koi from feeding koi to breeding koi, go to our EVERYTHING KOI page.

We use an indoor hatching/spawning facility at both our wholesale koi farms to insure a controlled, reliable spawning process. By spawning our koi and butterfly koi in a controlled enviroment here at our fish farm, as opposed to natural spawns in our mud ponds, we are able to control what females spawn with which males. This allows for the best color matches and higher quality. It also increases the survival rate of the koi fry.

Starting in 2003, our koi and butterfly koi at both our Missouri and Indiana fish farms have been tested twice a year by an independent lab for SVCV (Spring Viremia of Carp Virus), IHN (Infectious Haematopoietic Necrosis), VHS (Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia), IPN (Infectious pancreatic necrosis) and Carp Erythrodermatitis under APHIS-approved protocols. Our fish farms have tested negative for all of these koi diseases every single time.

Rest assured when you purchase koi and butterfly koi, you are getting a healthy, ready for market fish. Your customers will enjoy them for years to come in their koi ponds or water garden features.
