Just like goldfish weight, the weight of a koi fish changes drastically from the fry stage to adulthood.
When koi are hatched, known as fry, their weight is almost immeasurable. An estimated volume measurement of fry in 1 mL is 700 fish. Remember, koi fry are smaller than the size of a human eyelash.
Once koi have grown to about 2.5" in size, their weight has increased significantly. An average weight of a 2.5" koi is 1.5 ounces.
As koi mature and grow in size, their weight also increases. Some of our brood koi, measuring over 24" in length can weigh more than 12 pounds or 192 ounces each!
